Research: Sound Tracks
For our research during the editing process. We mainly used the website Free Sound.org, which contained a number of free sounds available to download.
The first stage was to become a member:
After this, you are able to download sounds.
2. Our next stage was to think and search for sounds that fitted in with our genre, a psychological thriller.
We considered the following sounds:
1. Horror Theme 1
Sound Clip:
After evaluation, we decided not to use this sound, as it didn't fit in with our draft shots and camera angles. It also used to much bass, and sounded more comical rather than scary. Feedback from other class members included comments such as "The pitch seems too High" so we collectively decided not to use it.
2. Distant Shot Rumble
Sound Clip:
This clip was another one we considered carefully, and we decided to use it in our teaser trailer because we like the effect it provided.
3.Herbert Boland Cinematic Boom
Sound Clip:
We used this for the majority of our titles and they were using in sequence with them as it appeared on screen. We found this free sound particularly effective as it enabled us to create an atmosphere and make an impact on audiences.
4. Ambient Darkness
Sound Clip:
This was the most important sound for our teaser trailer "Beneath The Surface" It was key to creating an atmosphere and completes the thrilling effect that we wanted. The key clicking sound effects matched the shot of Elizabeth opening the door, and the use of another soundtrack (Jobro Dramatic Piano) created the load bang that we needed along with distant shot rumble.
In total used four sounds to create the effect we wanted on our teaser trailer. These were:
1. HerbertBoland Cinematic Boom
2. Distant Shot Rumble
3. Ambient Darkness
4. Dramatic Piano
