Research: Research into Inspirational Practitioners: Christopher Nolan

Christopher Jonathan James Nolan, was born on July 30th 1970 in London. He is a famous british-american film director, screen writer and producer, and has produced several famous and well known films such as The Dark Knight and Memento. Actually, Momento was the first film that made him well known in the film industry, as he wrote and directed the film based

on his brothers ideas. Ever since 2002, with the release of Insomnia, Christopher Nolan has found fame and success. This is mainly down to his collaboration with the Batman Franchise with the help of David S Goyer. This fuelled the eventual creation of Batman begins followed by the Dark Knight, a huge success which grossed more than $1,001,921,825 worldwide. The collaboration with Warner Bros actually enabled him to create a batman trilogy. The brother of Christopher helped him to write the screenplay for the Dark Knight, which was written by himself and made by David S Goyer. The filming of Dark Knight began production in 2007 and overall managed to recieve a positive reception from audiences and critics alike.

Other key films that were created by Christopher Nolan that also had huge success is the the film Inception.Christopher Nolan was contracted by Warner Bros for a seven figure sum to direct the film, made in 2010. The screenplay was originally based is on the idea of shared dreaming, and Christopher one described it as "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind".
Inception earned $825,532,764 at the box office with a budget of 160 million, and infact in its first opening day it earned 21.8 million dollars, ranking it 29th in the box office charts.

This director has influenced our editing techniques througho

ut this A2 coursework. We wanted to use a complex plot that uses a number of ideas, that is almost just as dynamic as Christopher Nolans Dark Knight and Inception. The idea of a daughter shooting her own Dad is a disturbing thought, but we wanted to create a shock factor to audiences. Nolan has also influenced our sound editing. We used cinematic booms similar to the teaser trailer of Inception that I analysed earlier when titles appear to create the same effect. Other sound tracks we used were jobro dramatic piano, which kind of creates the same effect that the Inception trailer uses. I also aspire to be like this famous practitioner of film when I am older, he has had great success in a competitive film market and has made a huge name for himself.
