Completed Questionnaire with results
1. Analysis
1. What are your spending habits? What do you spend more on per month
Results:
This was a simple inital question to my target audience of 15-40 year old men and women. It highlighted that they spend more money on clothes than any other item that I listed, which shows that they like to spend money on looking after themselves. Magazines and Electrical Goods where the following items that were next popular items on the list, 3 people chose them.
2. What is your favourite genre of film?
Results:
These results were important because it enabled me to consider what genre we should base our teaser trailer on. The most popular result proved to be a thriller. This provided us with a clear indication of the genre we should use. The Horror genre was also popular, which could highlight that audiences wouldnt mind a combination of the two.
3.How often do you go to the cinema per week?
Results:
I asked this question because I wanted to gage the amount of interest that audiences have in the cinema today, and whether releasing a teaser trailer and advertising it outside(billboards) and in the adverts before films are shown would be viewed by enough people. The chart shows that the majority of people go to the cinema one or two times a week, which is average considering the price of tickets and confectionary in cinemas in buckinghamshire and berkshire today.
4. What type of music do you enjoy listening too?
Results:
This question was asked so that we could understand more about our target audience and what they are interested in. It showed that the majority of people-6 in fact like Rnb/HipHop rather than classical music. These results could also be useful for marketing purposes, as Rnb/Hiphop stars could therefore be used to promote the film if we had enough funding. This would hopefully increase the level of interest and profits if our actual films were released in cinemas.
5. What is your occupation?
Results:
This question highlighted the majority of people were interviewed were infact students at our college, but this was because we hope our teaser trailer will appeal specifically to this social demographic.
6. How often do you use the internet?
Results:
This question showed that our audience are up to date with technology and reguarly look online. The majority of the 15 people asked actually look online 3-4 times a day, which is interesting as it shows that putting our teaser trailer online could be another way that we further attract interest to our film, hopefully boosting profits. 5 people actually look online up to 5 and 6+ times a day which further highlights that online advertising and promotion is important.
7.How much disposable income do you spend on cinema tickets per month?
Results:
The majority of our audience spent between £10.00 and £20.00 in the cinema, which identifies that the cinema isnt cheap, and that the cinema is in a declining market. This suggests to us that we need to consider using online programs such as Youtube to advertise our product, as so many individuals go online on a daily basis.
8. What brands/shops out of this are you most interested in? Choose Two Only.
Results:
The most popular brand out of this are Apple, Blackberry and Sony. These are all electrical goods which highlight how students are up to date with technological change. We could also consider the fact that due to the extreme popularity of the blackberry handset we could consider a joint advertising and marketing campaign. Over 100 million handsets were sold last year and a collaboration with Blackberry could certaintly increase ticket sales. We would have to consider providing dividends to the company however if our psychological thriller became successful. Blackberry also has the "PIN" system which operates with all blackberry users worldwide. Another reason why I think these results prove that we need to focus on technology is that few people picked clothes shops as theyre favourite brand. It highlights that our audience are more interested in technology, rather than how they look to others.
Find Your Tribe:
In order to find out more about our target audience we decided to complete Find Your Tribe:
1. Example: Opening Page
2. Here are some screen shots of some of the questions asked:
The Result:
Analysis and Reflection:
This result showed that our target audience is part of the "Get Paid Crew." This backs up our earlier target audience research that students our age are interested in technology more than anything. We can clearly see that our film will need a broad advertising and marketing campaign, with a focus on mobile technology and advertising on handsets and websites such as Apple,Blackberry and Youtube. Questions asked about disposable income were clearly relevant to our audience, as it showed that they take interest in how they spend their money. I think that some of the "Find Your Tribe" outcomes wont be relevant to all our target audience, as not all of them will be Business Studies students, or have Dragons Den as their favourite programme. Everyone is different. Overall I think our audience questionnaire and Find Your Tribe has been successful at finding out more about our audience and there needs, and we will consider this when we create our teaser trailer, especially as we need to think about to market it.
